Supplying Your Files

print help

We can run your file from most programs. For jobs that are run to film for the offset press accepted file formats for PC are:

  • CorelDraw [.CDR]
  • Photoshop files [.PSD or .TIF]
  • Adobe Illustrator [.AI or .EPS]
  • Adobe InDesign [.indd]
  • Adobe Portable Document Format [.PDF].
  • Quark Express

    For MAC:

  • Quark Express 4.1
  • Adobe Illustrator 9
  • Adobe Portable Document Format

For jobs that will be dealt with in our digital department we accept all of the above, but prefer PDF files. We can also run digital prints from the basic PC programs like Microsoft Publisher, Word & Works [please note that these programs are extremely basic and will not produce film separations. Any work which is created in them for the offset press will need to be cut & pasted into Coreldraw, which is charged for at the hourly rate].

Digitally we can print directly from your file to our mono laser dot printer, our Xerox colour laser printer [up to oversize A3] or our quality colour poster printer [610mm wide x up to 2.3meters long!].

Artwork Check List

It’s a good idea to provide &/or check the following items when supplying an electronic file:

  • Are you supplying all fonts used in your job OR are all fonts converted to outlines/curves
  • Have you supplied a hard copy print out of your file [so we can ensure that it opens correctly]
  • Have you supplied all linked objects & images for your files [usually from Illustrator & InDesign]
  • Is your full colour process job in CMYK? Check that all of your black text 100% K, not full colour black.
  • Does your spot colour job separate correctly?
  • Have you allowed for the industry standard 3mm ‘no go’ area and 2mm bleed?
  • Is your page size correct?
  • Are your folds in the correct
  • position for your fold type?
  • Do you want your disk returned - is it labelled clearly?

WARNING: Things can change from system to system - and they do! Keep an eye out for the unexpected & proof your job thoroughly, any errors or omissions not noted at the time of final proofing will be your responsibility.

FEES: A basic file/imposition fee will be charged on most supplied jobs. Any changes, corrections, or re-supplied files will be charged for at the hourly rate.

We are dedicated to ensuring our customers receive a service and a product beyond all expectations. While we offer a full inhouse graphic design service some people are taking the graphic design upon themselves.
